Toor Dal Poli | How to make Kandi Bobbatlu

Ingredients

For the Outer layer

  • 2 cups All purpose flour
  • A Pinch Salt
  • A Pinch Turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp Ghee
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 2 tbsp Cooking Oil

For the stuffing

  • 1/2 cup Toor Dal
  • 3/4 cup Jaggery
  • 2 tsp Ghee

Instructions

  • In a wide bowl, take flour, salt, turmeric, milk, ghee and mix well.
  • Slowly add water to knead to a soft dough, then add oil and mix well till the dough becomes pliable.
  • Let it rest for 15 mins.
  • Meanwhile for the stuffing, pressure cook the dal and then mash well.
  • Melt jaggery and remove impurities.
  • Add the mashed dal and jaggery in a nonstick pan and cook till it becomes thick.
  • When making the poli, pinch out small dough, place the stuffing in the center, seal well and roll out discs.
  • Heat a tawa and cook on medium flame using ghee on both sides till spots come.
  • Serve as Neivedyam and enjoy.
