Bread Halwa | How to make Double Ka Meetha

Bread Halwa or Double Ka Meetha is a sinful sweet, popular across all Indian States, though it is well known from Andhra Pradesh. This is best done with leftover bread slices.

Ingredients

  • 8 no Bread Slices appr 3 cups
  • 200 gms Sugar 1 cup
  • 50 gms Ghee appr 3 tbsp
  • 200 ml Milk 1.5 cups
  • 1/2 cup Condensed Milk
  • A Pinch Orange Food Colour opt

Instructions

  • Pulse the bread slices in a mixer to powder it.
  • Heat a nonstick pan with oil and roast the bread crumbs till it turns golden in colour.
  • Add the sugar, orange food colour and let it melt. This takes about 5 to 7 mins
  • Then add milk and cook on high as you keep stirring it.
  • Finally add the condensed milk and cook in low flame till the pudding comes together.
  • Add roasted nuts as per your choice.
