Ingredients
For Pressure Cooking
1cupToor Dal / Thuvaram Paruppu / Kandi Pappu
1smallPotato / Aloo
2 to 3nosGreen Chilies
A Pinch Turmeric Powder
For Tempering
1tspCoconut Oil/ Ghee
1tspMustard Seeds
3 to 4nos Dry Red Chilies
1tspCumin Seeds
1sprig Curry Leaves
Salt to taste
A Pinch Asafoetida / Hing
Instructions
How to make Dali Toye Recipe
Wash the toor dal and take it in a pressure cooker along with turmeric powder.
Cook for 2 to 3 whistles, once the pressure falls down, remove the lid.
Peel the skin from the potatoes and cube it into small pieces.
Add to the dal along with chopped green chilies and cover with lid. Cook for another 2 whistles. Let the pressure fall down.
Once the pressure falls, add salt and cook on low flame while you prepare the tempering.
For tempering
Heat a small pan with oil/ghee, temper with mustard seeds, cumin seeds.
When the seeds crackle, add red chilies, hing, and curry leaves.
Saute well and pour over the simmering dal.
Serve hot Rontose, the Konkani style rice pooris.
Notes
This Konkani Style Dal is always tempered with coconut oil. If you wish you can use ghee.
