How to make Margherita Pizza Recipe

    Ingredients Needed:

      For The Pizza Base

      • 2 cups All Purpose Flour
      • 1.5 tsp Salt
      • 1 tsp Instant Yeast
      • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
      • 1 cup Water add more if required

      For The Topping

      • Mozzarella Cheese Grated as required I used about 1.5 cups
      • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese
      • Pizza Sauce as required
      • 1 tsp Olive Oil
      • Dried Basil Leaves as required

      Instructions

      How to make Homemade Classic Pizza Margherita

        For The Crust

        • In a bowl, take the flour, oil, salt and yeast, slowly add the water and knead to a soft dough.
        • When the dough is ready, dust well and transfer to counter.
        • Knead the dough for 10 to 12 minutes until the dough turns smooth and elastic.
        • Oil a wide bowl and transfer the dough into it.
        • Cover with cling wrap and let it rest for an hour or 1.5 hours or until double in volume.

        Making the Pizza

        • Preheat oven to 200°C.
        • Grease a baking tray with oil.
        • Make sure to punch down dough and divide into three equal portions.
        • Roll each portion into a seven inch round disc.
        • Place the disc on the tray.
        • Now spread the pizza sauce on top of the disc.
        • Next sprinkle the grated cheese evenly all over.
        • Follow with a drizzle of olive oil and a dash of dried basil on top.
        • When you are ready, transfer to the oven, and bake for 10-12 minutes until the cheese melts and the base is cooked.
        • Remove from oven, transfer to a chopping board and cut using a pizza cutter.
        • Serve immediately.

        Notes

        This dough makes three 7 inch discs. However, I made two 12 inch pizza.
        Depending on your climate you can leave the dough to rise. I mostly leave it in the oven for a quick rise.
