Komallai Podi ~ Toppings on Dosa

Kothamalli Podi or Kothimeera podi is a spice powder made with fresh coriander leaves and whole spices. This can be served on the side or sprinkled on dosa top.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Coriander Leaves
  • 2 tbsp Chana dal
  • 2 tsp Urad Dal
  • 1 tsp Coriander Seeds
  • 5 to 6 Dry Red Chilies
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 inch Tamarind

Instructions

  • Wash and dry the coriander leaves.
  • Heat a nonstick pan and dry roast all the whole spices tossing around for 5 to 7 mins, towards the end add the dried coriander leaves and tamarind. Saute well and remove to a plate.
  • Allow to cool and then powder it coarsely.

Notes

This can be served as a dip for Idli, Dosas or as a spread as well.
This podi has a good shelf life and can be stocked for at least a couple of months when refrigerated.
