Mullangi Kootu | How to make Radish Curry

Mullangi Kootu is an easy side dish that gets cooked very fast and tastes good with steamed rice. When you are bored with what else to make with Radish, this is a wonderful dish to make.

Ingredients

For the Kootu

  • 2 medium Radish / Mullangi
  • 2 medium Tomato
  • 1 small Onion
  • 4 no Green Chilies
  • Salt to Taste
  • 2 tsp Cooking Oil

For the paste

  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tsp Coriander Seeds
  • 2 tsp Coconut grated
  • 2 Dried Red Chillies
  • 1 inch Ginger

Instructions

  • Grind the ingredients required to be ground to a smooth paste.
  • Heat a pan with oil, saute chopped onions, til it turns colour.
  • Then add the ground masala till it gets cooked well.
  • Next add chopped tomatoes, green chilies and grated radish.
  • Cook on high for it to get nicely cooked.
  • Add turmeric powder, salt and little water to boil.
  • When the kootu is well cooked, which takes about 5 to 7 mins, garnish with grated fresh coconut and coriander leaves.
  • Serve with rice.
