No Ferment Instant Cucumber Dosa is a popular Dosa from Karnataka, that you can make instantly with cucumber for a quick breakfast!

    Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

Today's recipe is a Dosa or a Crepe made with Cucumber along with Rice and Rava. This is an instant dosa and has a texture of almost a thin crepe. The basic batter is just plain cucumber with rice, you can always improvise on this by adding vegetables and making a stuffed dosa.

When I was making the batter, Hubby Dear was around and was shocked that I was going to be making a cucumber Dosa. I said this is supposed to be a popular Karnataka breakfast and is healthy. So I made both the Spicy Vegetable Oats Dosa and this one the same morning. I got about 6 dosas of each and we were able to have only 1 each. Even Amma said the same that 1 each was really heavy.

Anyway, Hubby dear had the Oats dosa first and said he couldn't find the cucumber smell or taste. I said he had to taste the other green dosa. After the first bite, you can't find the cucumber presence and it tastes really good with coconut chutney.

I would really pick this dosa when I have excess cucumber on hand and need a quick breakfast! This is for the BM#82, Week 3 on Crepes for all time! I hope you are enjoying the first two days, for the third day I have some really interesting one, so come back tomorrow to check it out!

Wash and soak the Rice for an hour.
Add the ginger and green chilies along with drained rice to the mixer and pulse to get a paste.
After pulsing for couple of times, add the cubed cucumber and again pulse to get a smooth paste.
Add only very little water as cucumber will release its water.
Grind the batter to a smooth texture.
Transfer the batter to a bowl, add rava, salt.
Mix well to make a dosa batter.
Heat a nonstick pan, pour a ladleful of batter in a circular style, quickly spread it as a dosa. Sprinkle oil over the dosa. Flip over to cook on the other side as well.
    Serve hot with Coconut Chutney

    Notes

Remove the cucumber seeds if its not tender.
You can even add finely chopped cucumber pieces to the batter.
