For the third day of Ganesh Chaturthi Pooja, I have another very simple and quick dish that you can make. I have been planning on making this prasadam for a long time. Seeing how simple it is, I wonder why I had delayed making it.

Today's neivedyam can be made in just 15 mins and it's a quick and easy one. The morning was rushed, so had to make prasadam very quickly. So this really came handy. I got the idea from here and decided to modify the recipe. So quickly got down making it. It really turned out very good and I even took it to share with my colleagues.

I had the weekend with kids and spent the whole time teaching them for their upcoming exams. Gosh at times I feel if the parents are taken to task with the things we have to do for them. Anyway we are heading on a direction, let's see how it turns out.

For now, make this for Ganeshji and make him happy.

Semolina Modak or Rava Modak Recipe

    Ingredients Needed

    For Outer Layer:
    Semolina - 1 cup
    Water - 2 cups
    Sugar - 3 tsp
    Ghee - 2 tsp

    For Stuffing:
Fresh Coconut, grated - 1 cup
    Jaggery, powder - 1/2 cup
    Sugar - 2 tsp
Almonds, finely chopped - 2 tbsp
    Cardamom Powder a pinch

How to make the Rava Modak

    For the outer layer,

In a non stick pan, bring water to boil, simmer and slowly add the rava and mix well. Cover with lid and cook for 5 mins.

Then add sugar and ghee, quickly give it a stir, making sure to mix everything well.

Cover and cook for another 5 mins.

Remove and allow it to cool down. Then when it is warm enough to handle, grease your palm with ghee, knead the rava mix well to form a soft and smooth dough.

Pinch out small balls and roll out to a smooth ball again. Keep it it ready.

    For the Stuffing

In a thick bottom pan, melt the jaggary, remove scrum if any, then continue boiling. When it starts to bubble and the syrup becomes slightly thick, add the grated coconut and cook well.

When the liquid almost gets dry, add the chopped almonds, cardamon powder, sugar. Cook on high for the stuffing to get little caramalized.

Allow to cool, before stuffing into the rava balls.

    Making the Modaks

Take the rava balls, flatten on the sides, and make a small basket type, with the center more thick for placing the stuffing.

Place a spoonful of stuffing, enclose from all sides, making sure you shape it like a modak.

continue with the rest and arrange on a plate.

    Offer to God before partaking.

    Notes:

Since the everything is already cooked, you don't have to cook it again.

This is a very quick prasadam you can come up with.
