When it comes to authentic or rustic dishes from any cuisine, one can still be surprised by the new dishes there are there to learn. This pachi Tomato Pulusu is one such dish I recently came to know from Athamma.
As the name says in Telugu, pachi means raw or uncooked. Pulusu refers to anything that is liquid in state. This uncooked stew made with ripe tomatoes with onions and green chilies, is supposed to be the go-to dish her folks many years ago, used to prepare.
When there are no vegetables at home or if one is recovering from illness, typically this is what is made, as this has that unique quality of picking up taste. Just as I know, tamarind based dishes are prepared in Tamil Nadu, I suppose this is prepared in villages in Andhra. Few days back, Athamma was feeling under blue and wanted something tangy and simple that reminded her of her childhood days. And this is what she wanted.

    Pachi Tomato Pulusu

    Ingredients Needed:

    Ripe Tomato - 2 medium
    Onions - 1 medium
    Green Chilies - 2 medium
    Coriander leaves - handful
    Salt to tate
    Water

    How to make the pulusu

In a bowl, take the ripe tomatoes, and squeeze well. Then mix in finely chopped onions, green chilies, coriander leaves and salt. Mix everything well.

Then add 1 cup of water and mix everything well.

    Serve and mix with rice.
