Chettinad Sauteed Sweet Potato is a dry stir fry made with boiled sweet potatoes in a mix of spices that make it get to just snack on or as a side dish.

Sweet Potatoes are delicious just boiled. We mostly enjoy it as such, though during growing up I remember mixing sugar and enjoying as a snack. These days we simply boil it and eat it for the evening snack.

The first time I got to taste this sauteed sweet potatoes was when my colleague got it and she said in her Chettinad cuisine, it is commonly made this way. I asked for the recipe and it was so simple. Even the dish looks very simple yet the taste was amazing.

When I get bored to eat as such, I often make it this way.

We are starting the BM#88, Week 2, where I have been blogging on Regional Cuisines of Indian. I shared from different states and for day 3 it is from Tamil Nadu.

Even we are used to eating boiled sweet potatoes. This one with the tempering looks so good. I am sure the tempering will enhance the sweetness..

My kids love sweet potato and I make this very often but not the chettinad version. Addition of mustard powder is unique here. Shall try it soon.

Even I love sweet potatoes. The ones we get here have a orangish flesh and that colour is awesome. This simple stir fry looks awesome Valli.

Making dry sabji with sweet potato was a must in our house when I was growing up especially during the Ekadashi fasting. Will try making the Chettinad style soon.

Sweet potato is prepared this way in some parts of Maharashtra too but with a different set of spices. I will try it with these spices.

I loved eating sauteed sweet potato back in India but here the sweet potatoes are too much sweet and I just hate them. The Chettinad style potatoes looks yummy.
