It's all about milestones, epic or otherwise and I am all for doing things that will forever get frozen in mind. When it was time for BM# 50, we all thought we should meet up again to celebrate the occasion. That's what we did last week when 12 of us from the Blogging Marathon group met in Madras, over the weekend, and enjoyed our company. The BM#50 Celebration created a lifetime impression on each of us.
So before it was even settling down, we have the month starting and we are doing the first week of the Edition. I picked up to do Pasta with different sauces. As you can see, I mostly end up doing themes that my kids will like to eat. The latest ingredient that at least two of my kids like to eat is Pasta. They don't mind any variety, it was to be one. I am not sure why Peddu doesn't like it much. Maybe they decided that at least one of them have to say no, just to make me cook different dishes.
In my book, at least two of them eating a dish was more than enough. I made all pasta one fine Saturday morning
for breakfast. I selected that day as hubby dear was not home and it was easy to cook pasta for the rest. By end of the day, everybody said they have been eating only pasta throughout the day! I even thought they may not want to eat Pasta for some time. Still, I was glad that they liked all the varieties that I made. In fact, Peddu also ate some of it. So on the whole, it was a nice experience trying out different sauces and different kinds of pasta.
The only drawback in such a cooking expedition, my creativity in terms of clicking pictures goes for a toss. Mind seems to get frozen and I simply can't think of any new composition for the final pictures. So if all the pasta posts seem similar in setup, blame my insipid brain.

    Fusilli with Homemade Marinara Sauce

    Ingredients Needed:

    Fusilli pasta - 1 cup

    For the Marinara Sauce

    Ripe Tomatoes - 4 big
    Garlic - 4 -5 cloves
    Olive Oil - 2 tsp
    Red Chile flakes
    Salt to taste
    Dry parsley
    Dry Basil

How to make Fusilli with Homemade Marinara Sauce

Bring to boil a pot full of water. When it starts rolling boil, add the fusilli, and cook for 5 -7 mins till the fusilli is cooked.

Drain over a colander and sprinkle oil to make sure it doesn't get stuck.

How to make Homemade Marinara Sauce

Meanwhile, blanch the slit tomatoes for 5 -7 mins, allow to cool, and make a puree.

Heat a nonstick pan with olive oil. Add crushed garlic and saute well. Then add the tomato puree, salt, and all the other seasoning.

Bring to boil and cook over low flame till the sauce thickens.

Adjust spice level and continue cooking till the sauce becomes thick.

Allow it to cool and store.

To make Fusilli with Homemade Marinara Sauce

Heat a nonstick pan with a tsp of olive oil, toss the boiled fusilli and add the required amount of marinara sauce and combine everything together.

Serve in a bowl with grated cheese on top

I can literally visualize the kids now that I seen all three. Missing the meet. Anyways, the pasta is a hit at least with one kid at home and as you said one or the other had to like / hate a dish!!
