Mixed Dal with Pulka is one of our most wanted dinner ideas that we almost end up making at least once a week. Why I love this is because not only it is simply so comforting, my kids love it too. They love the hot ghee loaded Pulkas served with this dal.

We mostly use a mix of Toor, Masoor, and Channa Dal. You can combine Split Yellow Moong Dal to this as well. This is also a no Tomato side dish and it helps when you forget to get tomatoes, which I know hardly ever happens. Yet it is possible.

This Pongal long weekend was spent visiting Hubby Dear's hometown. We managed to visit both my SILs and spent the most relaxing weekend. I didn't lift one finger if I did, it was only to feast on the delicacies. Some of the stories I had shared during our visit, I shared on my Instagram.

It is always fun visiting relatives and enjoying the time. At times when you come back home tired or have no ideas what to cook, then this Mixed Dal with Pulka is the best option. This is part of the Vegetarian Dinner Ideas for BM#72 Week 3.

I love dal. I always have it every time I go to my favorite Indian restaurant in Melbourne and I enjoy cooking it at home, although I have not tried your combination and I am intrigued. We have excellent Indian supermarkets in Melbourne, so I will hunt for these ingredients.

I'm rather envious of your relaxing weekend. 🙂 It seems it's been quite a few weekend ago since I've been able to to fully take advantage of a weekend away from the office and just put my feet up. 🙂
Well, I'm also glad that you had time to post this recipe. I must admit, there were a few ingredients I've never heard of, but that's a good thing. I had to research what they were and that just helps me grow my food knowledge. Recipe looks amazing!

I love experimenting with Indian cuisine. I have cooked Dal a few times. The combination of all those spices creates so much flavour. As for relaxing weekends, this weekend I stayed out of the kitchen, and worked on converting recipes to a new plugin. Not sure it was relaxing...put certainly LESS dishes to wash.

I did a quick visit w/ my sister and mother this weekend, it was only a couple of hours but so nice to sit with a cup of tea and chat. I'd love to have a whole weekend of visiting with extended family. Indian cuisine captivates me. It's so unusual for my region. Every recipes I read sounds like an adventure.
