About this recipe and some memories!

It has to be a Chocolate Recipe for the first post of the new year! My kids love this easy no-cook Chocolate balls that aptly falls under Cooking without Fire category.

Thinking about this concept, I remember the event we used to have at my office during December. It was tagged December Drizzle, with many events organized as part of office bonding. One of the most interesting event was this Cooking without Fire. I was a judge along with my boss. We had many teams that were cooking multiple dishes. On the whole, it was a tough competition as all the dishes turned out excellent. Excepting a couple of those dishes, everything was kid friendly.

So when I came up with a theme for BM on Cooking without Fire, I was planning to create new dishes under this theme. Trust me, these balls got saved just for few click and all disappeared the moment I was done.

Since I was making these late night, Konda was helping me with clicking pictures and she also wanted to roll out some, you can see her making in the last pictures.

Ingredients you will need for no bake chocolate balls recipe

    • Sugar - I have used Icing Sugar. You can sieve it a couple of times to ensure is lump free.
    • Butter - I have used unsalted soft Butter for binding and richness.
    • Cocoa Powder - Depending on your taste you can either use regular cocoa powder or dark cocoa powder.
    • Milk powder - I have used Milk Powder for binding and taste.
    • Milk - We will need just few drops to help in making balls.
    Chocolate Balls - No cooking

Instructions to make this No-Cook Chocolate Balls

Mix all the ingredients into a dough like consistency, using milk only if mixture is too dry.
Shape and leave to dry till outer layer is dry enough to handle.
Store in an air tight container. Else wrap in paper and store.

    Recipe Notes

Nuts can be mixed in it while making the chocolate balls. Milk added is very less, so be cautious when adding it.

Tips for the Perfect No-Cook Chocolate Truffles

    • Sift Everything: Since we aren't cooking this mixture, any lumps in your powdered sugar or cocoa will stay in the truffle. Sift them together first for a silky, professional texture.
    • The "Milk Drop" Rule: Be very careful with the milk. Add it one teaspoon at a time. The mixture should feel like stiff play dough. If it gets too sticky, add a tablespoon of extra milk powder to firm it back up.
    • Temperature Matters: Make sure your butter is truly soft (room temperature) but not melted. Melted butter will make the truffles greasy rather than creamy.
    • The "Chill" Factor: While you can eat these immediately, chilling them for 30 minutes in the fridge makes them much easier to roll into perfect spheres and deepens the chocolate flavor.
    • Pro Coating: If the truffles are too sticky to handle, lightly grease your palms with a tiny bit of ghee or neutral oil before rolling.
Can I make these truffles without a stove or microwave?

Yes! This is a completely "no-fire" recipe. We use soft butter and a tiny amount of milk to bind the dry ingredients, making it a safe and fun recipe to make with kids.

What is the best milk powder to use for chocolate balls?

For the richest, fudgiest texture, use Full Cream Milk Powder (like Nido). Non-fat dry milk works but will result in a less creamy truffle.

    Are these chocolate truffles gluten-free?

Yes! Since this recipe uses milk powder instead of biscuits or flour, it is naturally gluten-free. Just ensure your cocoa powder and toppings are certified GF.

How do I store no-cook chocolate balls?

Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. You can also freeze them for up to 3 months-just thaw them in the fridge before serving.

    Ingredients

    • 1/2 cup Icing Sugar / Confectioners' Sugar, sifted
    • 2 tsp Butter soft
    • 3 tsp Cocoa Powder
    • 1/2 cup Milk Powder
    • 1 tsp Milk

    Instructions

    How to make Chocolates Balls

    • Mix all the ingredients into a dough like consistency, using milk only if mixture is too dry.
    • Shape and leave to dry till outer layer is dry enough to handle.
    • Store in an air tight container. Else, wrap in paper and store.

    Notes

    Optional Ingredients
You can use chopped nuts, rice crisps, chocolate chips to make this more rich.
You will need to add milk only if required, so be cautious when adding it.

    Essential Kitchen Notes

    • Icing Sugar: In the US, this is labeled as Confectioners' Sugar or Powdered Sugar. Sifting is vital here to keep the truffles smooth!
    • Milk Powder: For the best "fudgy" results, use Full Cream Milk Powder (like Nido).
    • The "Milk" Step: Be very careful with the 1 tsp of milk-add it drop by drop. You want a stiff dough, not a sticky paste.
    • Toppings: For a professional look, roll the finished balls in extra cocoa powder, shredded coconut, or crushed sprinkles.

I have tried with jaggery powder, however it should work if you grind it together.
