    Garlic Cheese Bread

-Originally posted on Jan 16, 2008!

This quick and easy garlic bread with cheese is a simple dish you can whip under 10 minutes. Be it for breakfast or for a party, it is very easy to make. Garlic Bread with Cheese has always been my favorite dish to order when we used to eat out pizzas. So I wanted to make it at home and was looking for whole loaf without slicing. Finding a bakery that offers a loaf without slicing was a task. However, this recipe is so versatile that you can make this with any store bought bread/bun.

I love garlic and enjoy the aroma of cooked garlic in the dishes. Like this Garlic Pull-Apart Rolls or this Roasted Garlic Twisted Pizza Sticks, these make a perfect dish to indulge your favorite spice!

    Ingredients you will need!

Since we are making quick under 10 minutes dish, you can opt to make these garlic bread with regular bread slice, buns, baguette or ciabatta. I have used Pav Buns

Bread - I have used Pav Buns and toasted with regular butter

Butter - I have used both salted and unsalted butter to make these garlic bread

Garlic Butter - Crushed garlic is mixed with soft butter to make garlic butter. You can grind to a smooth paste as well

Herbs - Regular Red Chilli Flakes, Oregano are topped on the toast

Cheese - I have used pizza melting cheese, which is a mix of processed cheese and melting cheese. You can use Parmesan and Mozzarella Cheese as well.

    See recipe card for quantities.

Instructions with Step by Step Pictures

This is a quick and easy dish to make for your breakfast or as a snack. When you are making pizzas, these make a wonderful dish on the side to enjoy!

How to make Garlic Bread with Cheese 1

Get the Garlic butter ready by crushing the garlic through garlic press into the soft butter. Blend well and keep it aside.
Have the cheese grated and ready.
When you are ready to toast, slice through the buns, spread the regular butter and toast it crispy on hot tawa.

How to make Garlic Bread with Cheese 2

Spread the butter on both sides and cook until it turns crispy.
When it is crispy, spread the garlic butter on top, sprinkle cheese as required.

How to make Garlic Bread with Cheese 3

Sprinkle the herbs on top, transfer to a microwave plate. Microwave for 30 seconds or until the cheese melts. Serve hot.

    Substitutions & Variations

You can try topping with different types cheese for variations.

This is a quick and simple recipe and there is not much substitutes you can do. However, you can improvise this recipe by topping with corns, and other vegetables for taste.

    Equipment

You will need a grater for grating cheese. Hot pan to toast the bread. Finally a microwave to melt the cheese. However, if you don't have MW, you can continue cooking this on hot pan with a lid closed for the cheese to melt.

    Storage

You can make the garlic butter ahead and refrigerate it for use when required. Rest of the ingredients need to be prepped when cooking it.

    Expert Tips

Toasting the buns to crisp makes this bread very tasty. Salted Garlic butter is will be excellent spread, if you do not have it, sprinkle a bit of salt after it is baked.

    FAQ

How long will the Garlic Butter stay good?

If you have used dry vessel to store the garlic butter, it stays good for a week on refrigeration.

    • 4 buns / 4" slices Bread
    • 2 tablespoon Butter unsalted
    • 100 grams Cheese grated
    • Chilli Flakes

    For Garlic Butter

    • 50 grams Butter salted
    • 10 Garlic Cloves

    Instructions

    For the Garlic Butter

    • Bring the butter to room temperature so that it is soft. Else MW for 10 seconds. We want the butter to soft and not melted
    • Wash and peel the garlic.
    • Using garlic presser, press down the garlic into the butter and make a paste.
    • If you don't have the presser, you can either pound it or grind it in a small mixer jar. Keep this garlic butter aside.

    • We can use any type of bread available.
    • I have used Pav Buns. Bread Slices, loafs, or buns will also be suitable for making garlic bread.

    • Serve it hot.
